Types Terms | Ramp Terms| Parts Terms| General terms | Trick Terms Skateboard Trick Terms 360 flip - When your board spins around a full 360 degres while doing a kickflip. Kickflip - When your board flips around towards you. Heelflip - When your board flips outwards from you. Ollie - When all four of your wheels come up of the round and you jump up with the board. The back foot smacks the tail of the board against the ground while the front foot pulls the board up into the air Frontside - Tricks towards your heels. Backside - Tricks outwards from you heels. Shove-it - When your board spins around 180 degres. 50-50 - A grind when both of your trucks are straight on the surface you are grinding on. Boardslide - A slide where the middle of the deck is on the surface you are grinding. Noseslide - A slide when the nose of your board is sliding along whatever you are sliding. Slide - When your deck slides along a raised surface. Grind - When your trucks or truck grind along a raised surface. Darkslide - A slide where your board slides on the grip tape side. Varial Kickflip - When your boards spins around a full 180 degres while doing a Kickflip. Varial Heelflip - When your board spins around a full 180 degres while doing a Heelflip. Lipslide - A slide when you do a 180 degree Ollie then boardslide a raised surface. 180 Ollie - When you Ollie and you spin aroind 180 degrees with your board. Impossible - When your board spins straight up and down around your back foot. Airwalk - An air trick when you jump up catch your board and walk on Air. Nosegrab - An Air trick when you grab the Nose of your board. Tailgrab - An Air trick when you grab the Tail of your board. Indy - An Air trick when you grab the side of your board. Rock to Fakie - A trick on a Quarter pipe where you stall with your deck on the coping. Nosestall - A trick on a Quarter Pipe where you stall with your nose on the coping. Axle stall - A trick when both trucks are on the surface you are stalling on. Benihana - A trick where you are in the air and you take your back foot of the board and grab the tail with the hand closest to the tail. BACK TO THE TOP Types of Skateboarding street skating skating on streets, curbs, benches, handrails and other elements of urban and suburban landscapes. vert skating skating on ramps and other vertical structures specifically designed for skating. half pipe a U-shaped ramp of any size, usually with a flat section in the middle vert ramp a half-pipe, usually at least 8 feet tall, with steep sides that are perfectly vertical near the top. BACK TO THE TOP Skateboard Ramp Glossary Quarter pipe A ramp which starts to curve then goes straight up and down near the top with coping along the top. Half Pipe A ramp which is 2 Quarter pipes put together on each side (Half a pipe). Hip Transfer When two ramps are placed in a triangle pattern and you clear the top of the triangle. Spine Transfer When two Quarter pipes are placed back to back and you transfer from one Quarter pipe to the other. Vert Ramp A half-pipe where the steepest section of the ramp is straight down BACK TO THE TOP Skateboard Parts Glossary Griptape The Grippy paper on the top of your deck. Wheels The round things on your trucks used for riding with. Trucks The Metal piece attached to your deck keeping your wheels on. Berrings The things inside the Wheel that make your wheels spin. Hardware The bolts used to keep your trucks on your Deck. Deck The wooden part of the Skateboard used for standing on. BACK TO THE TOP General skateboard terms Bail Is when you are about to wipe out and you realize it so you try to make the fall so it won't hurt as much or avoid the fall all together. Carve To turn the skateboard and pump with your legs back a forth is carving. Concave An inward turn, like the concave on your skateboard deck. Coping Steel tube between the ramp and the platform. Fakie Going backwards Gap The area between two riding surfaces over which skaters ollie Grind A trick done on any sharp lip where the truck comes in contact with the edge of the ramp Poser Basically a wanna be. Wants to be but is not. Slam A bad unexpected fall Wipe-out Same as a slam centripetal force a force that keeps a body moving in a circular path rotational inertia a measure of an object’s resistance to being turned, depending on both the mass of the object and how that mass is distributed work: force applied over a distance—for example, you do work when you push a box across the floor, but not when you push on a locked door; work done on an object or system results in an increase in the energy of that system BACK TO THE TOP
