On Friday November 10th Reel Big Fish along with Streetlight Manifesto, Suburban Legends, and Westbound Train played Dinwoodie Lounge at The UofA.

We were late and missed Suburban Legends and Westbound Train, but were just in time to see Streetlight.

I have to admit I didn't know very much about this band before the show other than there are members of Catch 22 in it, I know the singer is for sure. They also have a CD of them doing Catch 22 songs which is good. I knew these guys would be good and I wasn't disappointed at all. They rocked the place with tons of energy. A lot of people seemed to know their songs and were singing and dancing all over the place.

I don't know many of their songs, but I know they played a few off of The Keasby Nights CD and they played Keasby Nights that was mixed in with another song which was pretty cool.

They had some kind of weird thing going on in the beer area that they would only allow a certain amount of people in which sucked because I wanted to a have a bunch of beers in me for RBF.

Without my belly full of beer RBF was up to play and they played about an hour and a half of goodness. They had their usually jokes and the best joke was “I heard a good acid trip is suppose to last 6 hours, but I only got 3.” There was lot’s of energy for RBF like there was for Streetlight. They were dressed up in what I like to call their Ska uniforms. The crowd was really into them which made it more fun and having fun is what is suppose to happen at shows, but I think Ska shows put and extra emphases on having fun.

Some of the songs they played were Trendy, She Has A Girlfriend Now, Ban The Tube Top, The Kids Don’t Like It/Thank You For Not Moshing, She’s Famous Now, The Set Up (You Need This), Where Have You Been?, Your Guts (I Hate ‘Em), Nothin’, Beer, Don’t Start A Band, Take On Me, S.R., Sell Out, All I Want Is More and even a short little cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman.

I seen RBF a few years ago at Warped Tour in Calgary and this show totally blew that one away. I might say this a lot, but this was one of the best shows in a long time and I hope they come back. If you haven’t already picked up their new CD “Our Live Album Is Better Than Your Live Album” I recommend doing so, also if you want a visual live RBF show get their “The Show Must Go Off” DVD put out by Kung Fu Records. Both are really good.

As unusual as RBF are they had some good merch. I got a RBF tie and some RBF fingertipless gloves.

The Travis was there with his trusty camera to take some photos and here are some of them.

P.S. Kyra was wore her owl shirt and she looked FA! Too bad they didn’t play A-W-E-S-O-M-E for her.
